Best Plumbers in Ottawa (2026): 10 Companies Ranked by Review Volume

Ranked on Google review counts, each shown with the date it was measured. Last reviewed August 2026.

Most "best plumbers" lists do not say how they were ordered, which makes them impossible to check. This one is ranked by a single number you can verify yourself: how many Google reviews each company's profile carries. The rating sits next to it, the method is stated below, and nobody paid to be here.

Short answer

Ranked by Google review volume as measured on 10 August 2026, the 10 Ottawa plumbers carrying the most reviews are John The Plumber (2,519 reviews), Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Ottawa (1,903 reviews) and Out Of This World Plumbing (1,176 reviews), followed by The Irish Plumber, Flash Rooter Drain Cleaning, Environmental Plumbing, The Super Plumber, Safari Plumbing Ltd., Horizon Plumbing & Piping Systems, Plumbing Now. Only claimed Google Business Profiles whose primary Google category is Plumber, within 30 km of downtown Ottawa, carrying at least 50 reviews were considered, and no business paid to appear.

How this list was built

  • The candidate set: claimed Google Business Profiles whose primary category is Plumber, within 30 km of downtown Ottawa, carrying at least 50 reviews. 80 profiles came back and 47 met that bar. Not our own listings — 5 of the ten below are not listed in this directory, and they are named anyway.
  • The order: number of Google reviews, highest first, on the figure shown beside each name. Not the star rating. A 5.0 from one review is not evidence, and sorting on rating would put it above a company with 2,000 reviews.
  • Heating companies are excluded, deliberately. Reliance Holmes (9,157 reviews), Francis Home Environment (6,682) and Enercare (6,268) all do plumbing, but their primary Google category is HVAC or furnace repair. Counting secondary categories would have handed the top three places on a plumbing list to three heating businesses. You may still want to call them; they are simply not what this page ranks.
  • One company, one place. Several Ottawa plumbers run a separate Google profile per branch. Each company appears once, selected on its largest profile when the pool was measured, with the number of branches shown. Without this the ten below would have been six companies.
  • Measured: the candidate pool was pulled 10 August 2026. Where a company is also listed in this directory, the figure here is the one on its listing, carrying the date that listing was last checked — so the number you read here and the number one click away cannot disagree. Review counts move, so the date is part of the figure.
  • What this is not: we have not hired, tested or inspected any company here, and nothing on this page is an endorsement. It ranks how much public feedback exists, which is a different thing from quality.
  • Nobody paid: no placement on this page is or has been sold. No business pays for a listing or a position anywhere on this site. How listings are chosen is on the methodology page.

    Out Of This World Plumbing

4.8 from 1,176 Google reviews, measured 10 August 2026. Based in Nepean. 3 branch profiles, largest shown.

    Not listed in this directory.

  4. 04

    The Irish Plumber

4.8 from 800 Google reviews, measured 19 August 2026. Based in Ottawa. 4 branch profiles.

  5. 05

    Flash Rooter Drain Cleaning

5.0 from 470 Google reviews, measured 10 August 2026. Based in Stittsville.

A perfect rating carried by a large number of reviews rather than a handful, which is rare. Drain-focused, so it is a first call for a blockage rather than for a bathroom renovation.

    Not listed in this directory.

  6. 06

    Environmental Plumbing

4.8 from 466 Google reviews, measured 10 August 2026. Based in Ottawa area. 5 branch profiles, largest shown.

Five branch profiles across the region, none of which lists a city on the largest one. Not listed in this directory; included because the review volume puts it here on the stated method.

    Not listed in this directory.

  7. 07

    The Super Plumber

4.9 from 427 Google reviews, measured 10 August 2026. Based in Ottawa.

A single profile rather than a branch network, which makes the rating easier to read: it is one crew's record, not an average across five teams.

    Not listed in this directory.

  8. 08

    Safari Plumbing Ltd.

4.6 from 422 Google reviews, measured 19 August 2026. Based in Ottawa.

The lowest rating in this ten. That is not a warning in itself on a sample this size, but it is the one here where reading the recent one and two star reviews is most worth your time.

  9. 09

    Horizon Plumbing & Piping Systems

4.9 from 363 Google reviews, measured 10 August 2026. Based in Ottawa area.

Piping systems as well as service plumbing, which is the practical reason to call them for a repipe or a renovation rough-in rather than a single leak.

    Not listed in this directory.

  10. 10

    Plumbing Now

4.8 from 311 Google reviews, measured 19 August 2026. Based in Ottawa.

Rounds out the ten. Above it and below it the review counts are close together, so treat the exact position as less meaningful than the band.

What actually decides the bill in Ottawa

Picking a company off a list is the easy half. These are the things that change what the call costs, and several of them are specific to the housing stock here.

  • Ask what the call-out actually buys. Most Ottawa plumbers charge a diagnostic or trip fee before any work starts, and firms differ on whether it is credited against the repair. Ask that question first, because it is the line most often disputed afterwards.
  • Emergency rates are a different price list. Evenings, weekends and statutory holidays are billed at a premium by most shops. If the leak is contained and the water is off at the shutoff, booking the next business day is frequently the cheaper decision.
  • Older central neighbourhoods bring older pipe. In parts of Centretown, the Glebe and Old Ottawa South the supply plumbing can still be galvanised steel and the drain stack cast iron. A repair that would be routine in a 1990s Barrhaven build turns into a section replacement here, and a plumber who quotes before seeing it is guessing.
  • Mature trees and clay sewer laterals do not get along. In older areas with large street trees, recurring backups are frequently root intrusion in the lateral rather than anything inside the house. That is a camera-inspection job before it is a digging job — ask for the footage.
  • Spring melt is the busy season, and 2026 proved it. Sump pump failures and basement backups cluster with the thaw and with heavy rain, which is exactly when every crew in the city is booked. A pump tested in February is worth more than a plumber called in April.
  • Ask about subsidies before you commit to backflow work. The City of Ottawa has run assistance for protective plumbing such as backwater valves and sump pumps. Terms and eligibility change, so confirm the current programme directly with the Cityrather than relying on a contractor's summary or on this page.

The one credential worth checking yourself

Plumbing is a compulsory trade in Ontario, which means the person doing the work must hold a valid certificate of qualification or be a registered apprentice working under someone who does. That is a public, checkable fact rather than a claim on a website. Ask for the licence holder's name and number, then check it against Skilled Trades Ontario. A company that hesitates at that question has told you something useful.

Confirm the business carries liability insurance too, and get the certificate rather than the assurance. Neither check takes ten minutes, and both matter more than any ranking on this page.

How to use a list like this without getting burned

Review volume tells you a company has been around and that a lot of people have had an opinion. It does not tell you they will be good on your job, on your date, at your price. Shortlist two or three from above, then insist on a written quote stating the call-out fee, the hourly or flat rate, what happens if the job runs long, and whether parts are marked up. Compare them on the same basis. The r/ottawa threads on plumbers are worth reading for the recent, unfiltered version.

And read the one and two star reviews specifically, sorted by most recent. A company at 4.8 across 2,000 reviews can still have had a bad six months, and that is the part an average hides.

Common questions

Who is the best plumber in Ottawa?
There is no single answer, and anyone who gives you one without asking what has gone wrong is guessing. On the measure used here, the number of Google reviews behind a rating, John The Plumber leads with 2,519 Google reviews at 4.8 as of 19 August 2026. The right plumber for you depends on whether this is an emergency, a renovation, or a drain problem, and on which end of the city you are in.
How is this list ranked?
By the number of Google reviews each company's profile carries, highest first, among claimed profiles whose primary Google category is Plumber, within 30 km of downtown Ottawa, with at least 50 reviews. The candidate pool was measured on 10 August 2026, and each company's figure is shown with the date that figure was measured. It is a ranking of how much public evidence exists about a company, not a test of their work.
Why are Reliance, Enercare and Francis not on this list?
Because their primary Google category is HVAC or furnace repair, not plumbing, even though they all do plumbing work. Including businesses on their secondary categories would have put three heating companies in the top three places of a plumbing list on the strength of review counts earned largely for furnaces and air conditioners. They are excluded on the stated method, and named here so you can see the decision rather than wonder about it.
Why does one company count as one entry when it has seven profiles?
Because a ranking of companies should not let one company occupy seven places. Several Ottawa plumbers run separate Google profiles per branch: John The Plumber has seven and Environmental Plumbing five. Each company appears once, selected on its largest single profile when the candidate pool was measured, and the number of branch profiles is shown next to it. Where the company is also listed in this directory, the figure shown is the one on its listing, so the two pages cannot disagree.
Have you used these plumbers?
No. We have not hired, tested or inspected any company on this page, and nothing here is an endorsement. This page ranks public review data with the method stated so you can check it yourself.
Can a company pay to appear on this list?
No. The order is the stated method applied to public data, and no placement on this page is or has been sold. Nothing anywhere on this site is sold either — no business pays for its listing or its position.
