Listing a business
What does it cost, and what happens to an enquiry?
- What does it cost a business to be listed here?
- Nothing. A listing is free, claiming one is free, and it is open to every business already listed. No business can buy a listing, buy a higher position, or pay to have another business removed. The order is published in full on the methodology page and applies to everyone the same way.
- How do I get my business added to the directory?
- Use the add-your-business form. A business needs a reviewable Ottawa service presence before it appears, so the submission is checked rather than published automatically. If it does not meet the listing standard yet you will be told why, rather than left waiting.
- My business is already listed. How do I claim it?
- Start from your own listing page and use the claim link, or go to the sign-in page directly. Claiming is verified by a phone call to the number on the listing: the call exists to prove that whoever is claiming actually runs the business, which is the only thing standing between a claim system and anyone taking over anyone's page.
- What difference does claiming actually make?
- Speed, and it is the honest difference rather than a badge. A quote request sent to a claimed listing is emailed to that business as soon as it arrives. A request for an unclaimed listing is relayed by a phone call instead, which is slower and depends on someone reaching you. Claiming also lets you correct anything on the page that is out of date.
- How do I get my business removed?
- Use the listing removal form and it is honoured in full. That means the listing, and the business is not re-added later by an import. There is no negotiation step and no requirement to explain why.
- When I contact a business here, where does my request go?
- A request made on a specific business page goes to that business and nowhere else. If you ask us to find you a pro, someone on our team reads the request, finds a suitable local business for your job and area and passes your request to that one business. Either way there is no fee to you.
